During her annual ‘Most Fascinating People’ report, Barbara Walters sat down with New Jersey governor Chris Christie to speak about his time serving during Hurricane Sandy, possible political aspirations, and, of course, his weight.

Christie is currently one of the most popular potential candidates for the Republican party nomination in 2016. His stellar work during Hurricane Sandy in October won him accolades from both parties, though he insists he was just doing his job.

Just doing his job, though, had a profound effect. Governor Christie’s approval skyrocketed to 72 percent, the highest of any NJ governor, ever.

Despite his impeccable governance during New Jersey’s recent disaster, some are still concerned about Christie’s weight and how it could affect his health and in turn, his political future.

Christie told Walters that he’s interested in running for re-election for governor next year, but didn’t shed light on to whether or not he’s thinking about going all the way for president in 2016.

Walters asked him, “I feel very uncomfortable asking this question when I am sitting opposite you, but you are a little overweight.”

“More than a little,” Christie responded.

Walters went on to ask if he felt that would be a hindrance to him, which Christie replied, “'I've done this job pretty well, and I think people have watched me for the last number of weeks with Hurricane Sandy doing 18 hour days and getting right back up the next day and still being just as effective in the job, so I don't really think that would be a problem.”

What on earth does his weight have to do with how he does his job? Does she think that normal people don't ever get sick or have health problems?
