Mischa Barton starring in “Magnolias” on Dublin stage, remembers her summers spent in Ireland
From the “OC” to the Massey Ferguson - the glamor of cutting turfing in the bog of Roscommon
Just because you're a Hollywood actress doesn't mean you can't bail hay with the best of them. Just ask former "OC" star Mischa Barton.
This week the young star told the Irish Independent how she once cut the turf on her uncle's farm in County Roscommon.
26-year-old Barton, whose mother originally hails from Roscommon, reportedly spent many happy childhood holidays there keeping it country before she hit the big time playing troubled teen Marissa Cooper in the hit US TV show in 2003.
"Mischa Barton cutting turf, might sound properly ridiculous to people but trust me, on my uncle's farm in Roscommon everybody pitched in," she told the Independent.
"I loved holidaying in Ireland and we were here pretty often," she added.
Barton is in Dublin this week to launch the Irish stage version of "Steel Magnolias" with fellow actress Anne Charleston, who is better known as Madge Bishop from the Australian soap "Neighbours." The show will opens at the Gaiety Theatre on September 10 before touring throughout Ireland.
