Mel Gibson has announced the name of his eighth child

Mel Gibson, whose girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva gave birth on Friday, October 30, has announced the couple’s name for the infant - Lucia.

A representative for the Irish-American “Braveheart” star confirmed: "Oksana Grigorieva and Mel Gibson welcomed the arrival of a baby girl named Lucia on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at an undisclosed hospital in Los Angeles."

The actor, 53, took a break from filming “The Beaver” while Grigorieva was in the hospital, and was given a rapturous welcome when he returned to the set on Monday.

"Everyone sang 'For He's A Jolly Good Fellow' and he blushed,” said a source on set.

A friend added: "Everything is great! They couldn't be happier. Everyone's healthy and thrilled. He loves it!"

Although this is their first child together, both Gibson and Grigorieva, 39, are already parents.

Gibson has six sons and a daughter with former wife Robyn, who filed for divorce in April this year after 28 years of marriage, while his girlfriend has a 12-year-old son Alexander with actor Timothy Dalton.
