Lindsay Lohan's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, resigned Thursday, only hours after declaring the actress’s 90-day jail sentence for violating her probation as too harsh.
"Ms. Lohan and I are extremely disappointed in the sentence handed down by Judge Revel," she told USMagazine.com.
"We believe that the penalty is far harsher than what others would have received under similar circumstances. The reality is that Ms. Lohan, like most defendants, had to balance work commitments with court requirements. To be punished so severely for doing so, particularly in light of the fact that she substantially complied with each of her probationary conditions, is harsh and unfair. That said, Ms. Lohan is prepared to serve her jail time and to comply with the Court's orders."
Holley quit after learning that Lohan was looking around for a new lawyer. Tiffany Feder-Cohen is now representing the 24-year-old troubled star, according to an LA County sheriff’s spokesman.
Lohan has been posting quotes from the U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights on her Twitter page, implying that her human rights are being violated.
She wrote, "It is clearly stated in Article 5 of the U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights that.... No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment."
Dina Lohan, the actress’s mother, told Entertainment Tonight that Lindsay was “scared to death.”
Lohan is scheduled to begin serving her sentence July 20.

you see here is a perfect example of why some D. Lawyers actually hurt their clients more than help them. This babe did everything she could to give the judge good reason to put her in the slammer. Initially, her lawyer failed to make sure this broad showed up in court on time. Even if you have to sleep over, get her there on time. Second: Making excuses about balancing work commitments with court requirements will not hold water with the court or public opinion. Third, the fingernail caper. Real cute. Finally, lashing out at the Judges sentencing will not impress the judge especially upon appeal. The best thing her lawyer could have done prior to sentencing was to have shown the court that the defendent was contrite and turning her life around. Not schooling her on emotional outbursts and complaining about being a victim just won't due it.
