They're massive in Cambodia. That's a refrain you rarely hear to promote a pop act, but Ireland pop act The Rubberbandits are anything but ordinary.

The mysterious Irish group almost had a Christmas number with their single Horse Outside, but they never expected to be a big hit in Phnom Penh.

When a discerning Irish ex-pat who lives the Cambodian capital spotted The Rubberbandits listed in the "Hot or not" section of AsiaLIFE, he was pleased to see they were clearly in the "Going Up" column.

"Ireland may be down on its economic luck," the post reads, "but at least it knows how to make a record-breaking Christmas Number 1 – Rubberbandits know that horses are clearly better than cars."

Horse Outside went viral success on Youtube soon after its release and has had just under 6 million hits to date. It also won an Irish Film and Television Award (IFTA) last Saturday night for People’s Choice Best TV Moment of 2010.
