Lady Gaga and Yoko Ono celebrate John Lennon in LA
Lady Gaga joined Yoko Ono on stage in Los Angeles for a joint concert to celebrate what would have been John Lennon’s 70th birthday on Saturday.
The reconstituted Plastic Ono band consisted of Yoko, Gaga, John’s son Julian Lennon and Sonic Youth members Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon, while Vincent Gallo, a New York artist, and rapper RZA made appearances.
Ono told the audience that Gaga is “so brilliant and such an inspiration to so many women,” while she
Gaga returned the favor, telling her fans via Twitter that, “WE ARE PLASTIC ONO. I got to sit in as a guest musician tonight, what a legendary band+mother, Yoko (sic)."
The reformed and rejigged Plastic Ono Band finished with a rendition of ‘Give Peace a Chance’ which ended with Ono and Gaga on top of a piano.
John Lennon was shot dead in 1980 outside his New York home, the Dakota building.
