Kevin Costner's company has solution to oil spill

In addition to a yet-untitled film in which he’ll play the mentor to CIA operative Jack Ryan, Kevin Costner has also landed the same role in planned spinoff ‘Without Remorse,’ Deadline reported. Jack Ryan is the protagonist in multiple Tom Clancy novels, four of which have been previously adapted for the screen.

The agreement sees both Paramount and Costner mining the franchise characters for multiple films, with Costner’s role as William Harper comparable to the Marvel Studios/Disney role of Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson, Deadline wrote. The Fury character has appeared in four films so far, and reportedly will headline another currently in development.

Costner’s character is responsible for recruiting the Jack Ryan and John Kelly characters in ‘Without Remorse,’ which will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie and may also feature Tom Hardy, if Paramount gets its way.

The first Jack Ryan film, directed by and co-starring Kenneth Branagh, includes Chris Pine as Jack Ryan and Keira Knightley as Caroline Ryan.
