Irish American host reaches out to Minnesota Republican via Twitter
NBC late-night show host Jimmy Fallon has apologized to Republican Michele Bachmann for his house band, The Roots, choice of intro song on Monday night.
After the event Fallon tweeted “I'm honored that @michelebachmann was on our show yesterday and I'm so sorry about the intro mess. I really hope she comes back. Actually it was a really fun interview. She helped me with my Minnesota accent. (I still sound Irish.)”
As Bachmann came on stage Roots played “Lyn’ Ass B**ch”, a 1985 Fishbone song, which many including New York Rep. Nita Lowey, a Democrat from Westchester County were offended by.
However at the time Bachmann seemed unaware. She walked out on stage smiling and waving.

The interview between Fallon and Bachmann went off without a hitch, the pair laughing and joking about her accent.
During the show the band’s drummer Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson tweeted "Aight late night walkon song devotees: you love it when we snark: this next one takes the cake. ask around cause i aint tweeting title."
After the show Fallon tweeted “@Questlove is grounded."
On Tuesday the band issued a statement saying "the performance was a tongue-in-cheek and spur of the moment decision."
Lowrey commented that playing the song was “sexist and offensive.”
