colin farrell was born in castleknock,dublin. he only lives in l.a. to be near his son james,whose mom is american.

Colin Farrell is not an Irish-American, Helen. The fact that Gerard Butler's family are Irish is similarly irrelevant. That might make him Irish-Scottish (though not Scots-Irish), but it brings him no closer to being Irish-American.

Agreed, pretty crap list all right, with the exception of Downey, McConaughey, Clooney and Kutcher. What about Neil Patrick Harris, Chris O'Donnell, Sean Patrick Flannery, Jerry O'Connell, Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood, Elijah Wood, Chad Michael Murry, Josh Harrnet, Dylan McDermott, and Denis Leary?

Mel Gibson is American, born in Peekskill , NY. The family lived in Washingtonville, NY until he was 13, then they moved to AU.

Cichaveg: Oops, this is a list of Irish AMERICAN actors, so Liam and Colin, being Irish, don't belong on this list. You're right, manhattan, there are Ir. Am. actors that have more Irish ancestry than many listed here.
