"Fictionalized", "Remakes" Isn't that what movies are all about. Nobody said they had to be factual documentaries. And oaklongan...you are DEAD RIGHT!!
It's the Dead END kids for the Cagney-O'Brien movie (article read Dead IN!!) !!
Slainte, where's the stretch you're referring to? Gangs of New York, Nativist tract or not is about Irish gangsters in New York, their interactions with the Nativist mob and the early beginnings of the Irish Mob in New York. It absolutely fits this bill. As for the Departed, though it may be a remake of a Japanese movie, it is still a film about Irish mobsters. I don't know why you feel the need to comment negatively about these pictures, when they were so much better than both Boondock Saints, which in reality were almost jokes.
Another stretch by Irish Central. For example, Gangs of New York is based on a Nativist tract, and is highly fictionalized. The Departed is a remake of a Japanese gangster movie.
