I loved the original movie and it's soundtrack. Of course the play's a hit.
Saw "Once" Sunday afternoon - It is a delight - Hope it has a long run - Wonderful cast and music
Delighted for ONCE. Well done to Irishman John Carney. He started all this. It was his idea for the film and he made it happen. And it is still the best portrayal of falling in love ever seen on screen. It is the best musical film of all times. Well done to Irishman Glen Hansard and Czech native Markéta Irglová. Without them it could not have happened either. It was this combination of three brilliantly creative minds that produced such a magical film: John, Glen, and Marketa. Make Marketa an honorary Irishwoman for God's sake! On Tony's night huge kudos go to Corkman Fergus O Farrell of the band Interference for his glorious composition Gold. I'm delighted for Enda and Bob and all involved in the production especially Steve. This show shows the best of the Irish and the best of humanity. May the artistic revolution of realism started by Once (the film) thrive and may we learn the important lessons from it. It is about friendship, respect, love...
Congratulations to everyone involved. Once is a breath of fresh air to Broadway. Just to point out - “Once” is not partly based on Glen Hansard's love affair with fellow musician and Czech immigrant Marketa Irglova. Their relationship was a result of working on this film together. John Carny wrote the script. He deserves all credit for the story. Enda Walsh did a brilliant job in converting it into a play for Broadway.
