Irish author Cecelia Ahern marries in secret ceremony
Irish author Cecelia Ahern wed long-time love David Keoghan in a secret ceremony in County Kildare on Friday.
Guests were told they were attending a christening for the couple’s six-month-old daughter at St. Nicholas Church in Kinsealy at 2 p.m. and were surprised to find themselves at a wedding instead.
The 28-year-old writer of the bestselling chick-lit novel ‘P.S. I Love You’ met Keoghan, an actor, in college. The couple had a daughter, Robin, last December.
The bride’s father, former Irish Taoiseach (prime minister) Bertie Ahern, walked her down the aisle.
A champagne lunch was served at the Village at Lyons estate in Celbridge after the ceremony.
“David and I made a commitment to one another a long time ago, which is as strong to me as marriage,” she said just a few months ago. “If and when marriage happens, it will be a decision David and I make in our own time, on our own terms."
