There is no question of their beauty, and we can contribute much of it to their Irish heritage, however they are "Mutts" when it comes to genetics. But Zooey,Drew,and Laura can be whatever, they are my selections for being castaway on a desert island with them.

Why would Orla Brady be on this list????

Well, Manhattan, I would make the complementary argument. In what possible sense is Orla Brady Irish-American? She is Dublin through and through. Does appearing on American TV now make you an American? By including her, you essentially allow in virtually every Irish actress.

I agree with Ballinalass, if your going to name American Irish actresses pick some that have nothing but irish ancestors, the ones picked are a real stretch. . With all the talented Irishmen you can't tell me there aren't as many talented girls.

The Irish film industry should do more to hire and promote Irish actresses. Think of all the internationally famous male Irish actors: Liam Neeson, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Colin Farrell, Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy, etc. Now think of an Irish actress who isn't Maureen O'Hara. Can't do it, can ya? OK, maybe some of you know the gifted young Elaine Cassidy, or the lady who plays Harry Potter's mean auntie. The situation needs to change. Why have American actresses (with horrible fake Oirish accents) taken all the lead roles in Irish-themed films over the past 15 years or so? Julia Roberts, Angelica Huston, Robin Wright Penn, etc. Hire genuine Irish actresses!
