I. thought Alyson Hannigan was a Good "Hollywood" Jewish Girl ? My own Grandmother always started speaking English, whenever I. tried talking to her in French or German; Alas ~
Ah WOunded George, youre American! Its great that you know a foreign language. Really.
What planet are you from? You don't watch American TV
GenericUser; You don't know Irish, right? Well then stop posting your ignorance about the language. You sound like a real fool.
@WoundedKnee Uh...several of my Irish friends in Ireland have named their children old Irish names. It's actually quite fashionable and has been for quite some time now. I'm in my mid 30s now and there have been many Irish-named babies among my friends since I was in my early 20s right up to present day. And Caoimhe is pronounced 'Keeva' in Donegal/Ulster Irish. Perhaps you'd be best to get your facts right before you start criticising and judging. Actually, maybe you should just stop criticising and judging.
I am happy that Ms Hannigan (who is she anyway?--never heard of her) has tried to pick a name from the language of her ancestors. In so doing she is well ahead of most young mothers in Ireland, who favor names such as Beyonce, Belinda or Brittany. I hate to be a pedant, however, but that spelling ia way off, since it completely changes the quality of the first vowel in the word. If she had stuck a /w/ into it it would be pretty close --- /Kweeva/.
