Susan Boyle

SuBo has had a year like no other.

In the space of 12 months she has transformed from a mousy choir singer in her local church in Blackburn, Scotland to a worldwide star with top selling albums and world tours.

Subo, runner-up on "Britain's Got Talent" last year, is celebrating her 49th birthday (April 1) like all mega stars do.

She began the birthday celebrations early in Tokyo, where her tour manager and fans threw her a party like no other.

She celebrated with her Japanese fans and some more.

Fans from all corners of the earth were flown to Tokyo to help SuBo ring in her 49th year.

A bash like no other was thrown and SuBo was in her element. Champagne was flowing, food was plentiful and the atmosphere was just electric.

Susan performed before a crowd of 1,000 in Tokyo accompanied by the Yomiyuri Nippon Orchestra.

After the concert she met with fans from England, the U.S., New Zealand, Asia and Australia at her surprise birthday bash, which was planned weeks ago.

They each had a gift for her.

Subo was overcome with emotion when a candle-lit cake was brought out and fans burst into Happy Birthday.

"We had a wonderful time. I can't believe they have come all the way from America, Australia and the UK. I just can't believe how lucky I am," Susan said.

She was showered with additional gifts from family and friends.

One of the most best gifts she received came from Simon Cowell, judge on "Britain's Got Talent" who took SuBo under his wing when the show finished.

He gave the Scottish singer a $10,000 diamond bracelet to mark the occasion.

And to top it all off, SuBo is also receiving a $ 6million royalty check today from the success of her album, "I Dreamed a Dream."

What ever happened to researched reporting??? Mistakes in this article, evidently copied from other papers who copied them from other papers etc etc 1 Pebbles lives in London with an older lady who has other cats. Susan thinks more of the cat's welfare since she is traveling or recording and can't care for her properly. She visits, though. ( resorse : Susan Boyle in Dutch interview) The fans were not flown in but came on their own and paid their own way. There were 16 and had told Susan's Management team they would be there and SUSAN invited them for cake and tea on the 48th floor, not the penthouse, and spent a hour visiting with them BEFORE THE CONCERT. Everybody had a ball and there were NO TEARS. No champagne or food, just cake ( really beautiful and yummy ) and tea. If there was a party after the Concert, I did not hear of that but one of the fans did not make it to the meet up because her flight was canceled but made it to the concert and Susan talked to her on the phone and invited her backstage after the concert. She sang to 8,ooo ( sold out ) and standing ovations and was presented with flowers and the orchestra played and the audience sang Happy Birthday. She is in Japan as a guest of the Symphony Orchestra for this one performance. no tour. JAPAN treated her like the NATIONAL (no, WORLD) TREASURE she is! Take notice, all TROLLS AND JEALOUS, GREEN-EYED MONSTERS, LADY SUSAN BOYLE is here to stay!!!

Thanks to CanadianBill and stevieboy for setting the record straight here. I happen to also be familiar with this group of fans who went to Japan and they were certainly not "flown in" for the party. They each paid their own way and flew to Japan out of genuine love for the lovely Susan. One fan even flew from Australia to Japan in advance to buy tickets because they could only be purchased in Japan. And two sweet Japanese ladies very graciously welcomed the group to Japan and helped handle all the arrangements on that end. Susan did not have a typical celebrity bash; this was a wonderful celebration enjoyed by her and her fans. Wish I could have been there. Congratulations and happy birthday to Susan.

...and to add to Bill's correction, the party of fans took place before the Buddokan Concert, not after it! By all accounts, the concert was a smashing success with Susan performing four songs and an encore of her signature song, '"I dreamed A Dream." Happy Birthday Susan! Enjoy your success, for you have proved indeed that "dreams do NOT have an expiry date."

CORRECTION! Susan's Fans from countries around the world were NOT 'flown in'. Each and every one of them paid their own way and chose to go. Two Fans who live in Japan were very helpful to all the others in making arrangements. The Birthday Party was a blast, judging from photos I've seen. And Susan Boyle deserves it. Susan wasn't "spoiled rotten," she was given her due. Finally. Being showered with love from her fans and gifts from her boss is what she deserved after working so hard for so many years to become a success. Also, the audience for her performance was 10,000 people, not 1,000.
