Los Angeles and Orange County Great American-Irish Fair, June 19th and 20th near Lake Irvine has over 2000 participants 40,000 to 60,000 punters attending, making it the largest Irish Fair west of Chicago. Huge Feis and 12 Singing acts, Leprauchan village and much more. You seemed to overlook us in Southern California yet again.
The Michigan Irish Music Festival in Muskegon is great, too!
Ah... I got caught up in all the excitement and for got to mention this 6th annual Cedar Valley Iowa Irish Fest is in Waterloo, Iowa, Fri.-Sun., Aug. 3-5, '12. Glean more at: info@iowairishfest.com. Sla'inte!
One of the largest Irish festivals on the east coast is held in July(third weekend) in Wildwood NJ. It draws upwards of 200,000 and holds Pipe band competitions, Irish Boxing, Each local Irish pub showcases various well known Irish musicians and groups. I can't believ you left it out of your list.
MANY OF YOUR FAITHFUL READERS WILL BE DISAPPOINTED IF YOU DON'T UPDATE YOUR LIST *****THEY WILL MISS A GREAT ONE AT THE JERSEY SHORE INCLUDING 2-4 'CEILI SEISUN' MAY 19 MCKINLEY AVE MANAHAKIN Free admission---Free Parking---Free Entertainment 10-6pm
What about the Kansas City Irish Fest on Labor Day weekend. It is a grand craic that last 3 days. Wonderful music from local and international celtic bands. Traditional Irish food, Irish cultural events and vendors. This event needs to be added to the calendar, this isn't a new event.
Didn't see the Iowa Irish Fest noted. It's the first full-weekend of August. This year it's Fr, Sa, Su, Aug 3-5. This fest is the largest in Iowa. About 25,000 attend. Admission fee is nominal, last year it was $10/day or $15 for the whole weekend. You also pay for food and drink, but the entertainment is FREE. It's known the same type of entertainment is quite expensive at other Irish Festivals around the US. There is lots of craic to be had: Pipe Bands, traditional Irish Bands, Irish dancing, Gaelic sports, a kids area, lots of food and beverage vendors, assorted Gaelic vendors with clothing, jewelry, flags and all-things Irish and more. Even and Irish pub, Jameson's, continues your weekend-long craic. Try it out this August, it'll do you no harm. Sla'inte.
Article's pretty weak -- they used to call that sort of thing "filler" ..... The note from Austin is correct , and you should add the Festival in Denver (July 13 to 15) where 20,000 to 40,00 will take part (Gaelic sports, Pipe band competition, dance competition, lots of music and food!
I think the article is missing some pages, as it only addresses May and June. Can't imagine they would overlook Milwaulkee Irish Fest, Dublin Irish Fest and North Texas Irish Fest, the largest and best fests in the nation. Not to menion some of the mid range, highly respected fests (some already mentioned) like the Catskills, Kansas City, Swannanoa, etc. Irish Central seems to only be "guiding us" toward their advertisers on this one.
thunter67, so why isn't it on this list?? It's sacred to many in Sunnyside, Queens, no????
The Saline Celtic Festival July 13-14 is alive and well, near Ann Arbor, MI.
The East Durham Irish Festival is still in Full effect in the Catskills this Memorial Day weekend. To Irish Central, when you say "US" Irish festivals, that means nationwide, not two months worth of festivals in the Midwest.
What happened to the famous Irish Festival in the Catskills of upstate NY??
