Irish American actor talks nudity, gay marriage at Golden Globes awards
Irish American actor George Clooney poked fun at Irish actor Michel Fassbender for his naked scene in the movie ‘Shame’ during his prime time appearance at the Golden Globes on Sunday night.
Clooney won the Golden Globe award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for his role in ‘The Descendants’ but it was his reference to Fassbender’s nudity and male organ that had the crowd gasping.
“I would like to thank Michael Fassbender for taking over the frontal nude responsibility that I had,” he said. "Really Michael, honestly, you can play golf like this with your hands behind your back,” he continued, mocking a golf swing with his hands behind back. "Go for it man, do it!"
Fassbender’s role as a sex obsessed Irishman living in New York earned him a best actor nomination. Some of the sex scenes in the movie had shocked critics and the film was given an NC17 rating, just below an X rating.

Neither Fassbender or fellow Irish actor Brendan Gleeson, who starred in “The Guard’ won any awards at the Golden Globes event.
Clooney, who is due in County Kilkenny to research his Irish roots in April, also poked fun at fellow leading man Ryan Gosling and later got serious backstage discussing gay marriage and Mitt Romney’s stance.
Speaking about Gosling Clooney stated, “"He's in Thailand or something, and you know what you do in Thailand," he joked. "He wrote me a nice email this morning and I found out that he wasn’t able to be here. It happens, you gotta work. He's gotta make a living, he's a struggling actor."
Speaking of Mitt Romney, who opposes gay marriage, he said, "Well I'm not much concerned until there is an actual nominee, but I think it’s the wrong side of history. I think everyone understand it's the last leg of the civil rights issue. It's certainly not the wedge issue it was in 2004."
