Irish American actor George Clooney poked fun at Irish actor Michel Fassbender for his naked scene in the movie ‘Shame’ during his prime time  appearance at the Golden Globes on Sunday night.

Clooney won the Golden Globe award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama  for his role in ‘The Descendants’ but it was his reference to Fassbender’s nudity and male organ that had the crowd gasping.

“I would like to thank Michael Fassbender for taking over the frontal nude responsibility that I had,” he said. "Really Michael, honestly, you can play golf like this with your hands behind your back,” he continued, mocking a golf swing with his hands behind back. "Go for it man, do it!"

Fassbender’s role as a sex obsessed Irishman living in New York earned him a best actor nomination. Some of the sex scenes in the movie had shocked critics and the film was given an NC17 rating, just below an X rating.

Neither Fassbender or fellow Irish actor Brendan Gleeson, who starred in “The Guard’ won any awards at the Golden Globes event.

Clooney, who is due in County Kilkenny to research his Irish roots in April, also poked fun at fellow leading man Ryan Gosling and later got serious backstage discussing gay marriage and Mitt Romney’s stance.

Speaking about Gosling Clooney stated, “"He's in Thailand or something, and you know what you do in Thailand," he joked. "He wrote me a nice email this morning and I found out that he wasn’t able to be here. It happens, you gotta work. He's gotta make a living, he's a struggling actor."

Speaking of Mitt Romney, who opposes gay marriage, he said, "Well I'm not much concerned until there is an actual nominee, but I think it’s the wrong side of history. I think everyone understand it's the last leg of the civil rights issue. It's certainly not the wedge issue it was in 2004."

Here's a clip of George Clooney's acceptance speech:

George may be easy on the eyes, but he is an idiot. Increasingly so. He may be a jokester, but many Americans no longer care for his sense of humor ... often at the expense of others. Plus his parade of young women is becoming boring. Finally, his movies aren't really that great.
He made a comment, and you all down him on something, take a look at your own comments people. Worse by far.
I don't think anyone's a Mitt Romney fan, except Wall Street. Certainly the GOP don't like him.
He's an under-educated, overpaid idiot who has no business pretending he is knowledgeable enough to comment on ANY political arena ANYWHERE ON EARTH, let alone in the United States. So basically, he is GW Bush in your eyes. btw Lausane is correct. Clooney is very much aware on social issues .
The right wing creepy crawlies do not need much baiting to crawl out of the woodwork. If they had their way no one but the creepy crawlies would have the right an opinion
Leave George alone- lighten up - we all know he loves to joke- he's just slagging off as we would say here- a typically Irish trait! George is one of the few stars who doesn't take Hollywood and all that jazz too seriously- but is very clued in when it comes to political and social issues...and he's sooo easy on the eye!!
I do'n know, but I think a lot of the posters feel he is endorsing, Mitt!. Read his remarks again, He is as far left as one can go without registering as a card carrying communist! Like most celebs, they believe we hang on to every word they speak. Well, isn't one of the criteria of being an actor/actress is a BIG EGO? Just saying!
@SecretCelt: Why should "we" bury him there? Why not his Villa in Italy? Lost a lot respect for him years ago! :(
@SecretCelt: You are just one of those brain-washed conservative Hollywood bashers who seriously believe that politicians like Romney and his rich fellow Republican competitors have any idea or even care about the real struggles of the American middle class. Republicans only care about cutting taxes for themselves and their rich friends, and, by extensions, for people like Clooney and his friends who happen to oppose conservative politics. Dude, wake up and get a life.
You don't need to waste any more space like this article about him.
For god sake America..smile, he's a joker.
Me thinks old George is more a Barney Frank fan than a Mitt Romney fan.
SecretCelt, Wow, you said it all. Thanks. I don't know about burying him but maybe they can stash him away in a cellar for about 50 years.
BTW - When you take George, could you convince him to bring Brangelina with him? We're sick of THOSE clueless nincompoops too, and their total disconnection with anything in the REAL WORLD of working America.
I love Ireland and the Irish, but please, don't read anything George Clooney says as representing Americans. He's an under-educated, overpaid idiot who has no business pretending he is knowledgeable enough to comment on ANY political arena ANYWHERE ON EARTH, let alone in the United States. As far as I'm concerned, when he comes to Ireland to "explore his roots" this April, there are a LOT of Americans who will appreciate it if you will BURY him there so we don't have to listen to his stupid mouth any more. Thanks!
