Why aren't there events in New York to honor: Senator Wagnor (married Irish and buried Catholic), Dennis Hart Mahan (father of West Point and American engineering, Alfred Thayer Mahan (father of modern US Navy), William Tecumseh Sherman (raised Irish), Dr. William MacNeven (father of American chemistry), or even my grandfather James McManus, who did far more for New York City's children than Frank McCourt ever did. Another example of the fresh Irish giving America's old Irish short shrift.
