Derek Jeter is set to marry his Irish American girlfriend Minka Kelly on November 5th, it has been reported.
The New York Post says the couple will marry at the exclusive Oheka Castle complex on Long Island New York. Teen idol Kevin Jonas was married there last month.
Kelly is the daughter of Maureen Kelly,a former Los Vegas showgirl who died, and she traces her roots to County Cork. The couple's wedding date was confirmed after the Post reported they got the date "by spotting a curious entry in the official calendar at the ritzy reception palace Oheka Castle in Huntington, LI, for the first Friday in November that read simply "JETER wedding."
The date is at least two days after the end of the World Series in 2009.

Actually Derek Jeter is every bit as much 'Irish' as Minka Kelly. Jeter's mother is white and of Irish and German origin. donald3884 - your anti-miscegenation view just creeps me out.

I think it's fine and dandy. Let people do as they wish. Love conquers all. Racial differences are not reason enough to deny true love and affinity between two people. My comment is for Donald3884: I love your quote: "without coming off as racist..." Are you joking? You ARE a racist. What business is it of yours what two people in this world do? Jeter and Kelly didn't consult the statistics of how many black men are marrying white women before they decided to marry. They're simply 2 people who obviously love each other enough to get married. You should have been around in the 1940s. There was a guy in Germany with a funny mustache, a brown shirt and a swastika on his arm trying to take over the world and wipe out entire races and religions that he didn't approve of. You'd have been perfect fodder for his ranks, you jerk.

Without coming off as racist, why couldn't Jeters fine a girl in his own color. Why is an Irish white girl marrying a American black man. Neither family I doubt will be happy with this marriage. People of color should marry people of color and the same with white people. More and more black men are marrying white women. My question is why?

Derek Jeter himself is Irish-American, no?
