Film takes top comedy spot during its opening weekend in Ireland
‘Seven Psychopaths,’ starring Colin Farrell, opened to impressive numbers in Ireland this past weekend. The flick scored €1,384,114 during its opener in Ireland and the UK.
Joe.ie reports on the knockout debut weekend for the film. While ‘Seven Psychopaths’ only came to the second position for the weekend - edged out by ‘Rise of the Guardians’ - it claimed the top adult comedy spot.
In the film, Farrell gets back to his Irish roots as he plays an Irish character for the first time in in a while. He portrays a screenwriter who is trying to finish up his script that is already past its deadline. He shares the screen with Christopher Walken, Abbie Cornish and Sam Walken, among others.
The movie was written and directed by Martin McDonagh, who was nominated for an Oscar for his screenplay for 2008’s ‘In Bruges,’ which Farrell also starred in.
