Chris Pine plays insane Irishman to raves
'Star Trek' actor Chris Pine is boldly going toward a challenging new Irish role that light years from his Captain James T. Kirk character.
Onstage in Los Angles he's currently playing a crazed Irish out for revenge for after the murder of his cat, Wee Thomas.
The Mark Taper Forum's production of Martin McDonagh's broad as the fields comedy, 'The Lieutenant of Inishmore' has been packing them in and word is that Pine is perfectly cast.
'I love the character,' he told the press at the show's after party this week, while an Irish band called Slugger O'Toole played live.
'I don't get opportunities to play wackos, whom I love playing, and this was a great chance to play one,' Pine added. 'He's become more and more weird as I've played him, to my great joy.'
