His bid to play his Irish idol Van Morrisson may have not yet been answered, but in the meantime, “Twilight”/“New Moon” hunk Robert Pattinson will team up with Irish acting great Pierce Brosnan in a new drama.

The two actors will begin filming the new movie “Remember Me,” in which the former James Bond star will portray Pattinson’s father, in New York later this month.

The Irish and American heartthrobs will turn away ABBA songs and vampire fangs and turn to more serious subject matter in their new film. Pattinson, 23, will play a dazed young man whose brother has committed suicide, resulting in the collapse of his parents’ marriage. The parents will be portrayed by Brosnan, 56, and Swedish actress Lena Olin.

Meanwhile, Emilie de Ravin, who played Claire on the hit TV series “Lost,” will play a young woman who watches her mother die, and in turn resolves to live life to the fullest. Oscar-winning actor Chris Cooper is set to play her father.

“Remember Me,” directed by Allen Coulter, written by Will Fetters and rewritten by the talented writer Jenny Lumet, who worked on “Rachel Getting Married,” is set for a 2010 release.
