SEEMS like Jennifer Aniston isn't the only one on the planet who doesn't think Angelina Jolie is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Pierce Brosnan says that he's looking to co-star with Oscar winner Charlize Theron in the follow-up to his successful film The Thomas Crown Affair, even though Angie had been mentioned as a possible co-star during the summer.
"Charlize Theron is someone who I've always admired. I think she's someone who has acquitted herself grandly," Brosnan told People magazine last weekend at an environmental awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., where he was honored along with his wife, Keely Shaye Smith, for their green activism.
"Nothing against Angelina Jolie. I think she's a magnificent actress. But Charlize has a poise about her and has an inner strength and femininity which I really like to watch."
Production on crown won't begin until the end of next year, so there's plenty of time to sort out the female lead. Brosnan has several projects lined up prior to that, including a Roman Polanski film and one titled The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, which will co-star fellow Irish actress Saoirse Ronan.
Now that the new James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, will open this weekend, ex-Bonder Pierce thinks our new president-elect, Barack Obama, would make a fabulous 007, though obviously his looming new day job will keep him quite busy for the next four years at least.
"(Obama's) cool enough. He's definitely got the walk and the talk, yes. But I think he's going to make a greater president. And Mr. Daniel Craig is a great Bond of his time."
The Brosnans traveled to the nation's capital to receive an award for their active support of a group called Roots & Shoots, a global environmental youth program founded by Dr. Jane Goodall.
