Irish rugby captain Brian O’Driscoll and his wife Amy Huberman have been invited to the royal wedding of Prince William and his fiancée Kate Middleton.

If the Leinster team manages to reach the semifinal of the Heineken Cup the games are scheduled to be played on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, which is the same weekend as the royal wedding.

Prince William spent a short stint with the 2005 Lions in New Zealand, in which O’Driscoll was captain.

Speaking about the royal invitation O’Driscoll said, “It’s quite the honor and a lovely surprise for us to have been even considered.”
