Bono’s wife Ali Hewson sues Stella McCartney
Activist's company says Stella stole brand name
Though both Irishman Bono and Irish-Englishman Paul McCartney are huge players for various humanitarian efforts, their families can’t seem to keep the peace.
Bono’s wife, Ali Hewson, is suing McCartney’s daughter, Stella, over the title of Stella McCartney’s unreleased perfume “Stella Nude.”
Activist and sustainable fashion promoter Hewson, 48, owns Nude Skincare, and feels famous fashion designer McCartney, 37, has copied her brand name for her eau de toilette version of her Stella perfume.
Britain’s Daily Mail reports that sources say Nude Skincare is suing for compensation, “not because of anything to do with the scent of the perfume but because of branding and the use of the word ‘nude.’”
The paper also reports a source as saying: “Stella isn't likely to make any changes now because the fragrance is coming out in September and nudity is a big part of the perfume's "look". The bottle, for example, is a nude color.”
McCartney’s company is looking to settle the case out of court.
