Bill O'Reilly's explosive 8th appearance on Jon Stewart’s ‘The Daily Show’ – VIDEO
Stewart says Fox host isn’t “living in reality”
Fox anchor Bill O’Reilly made his eighth appearance on Jon Stewart’s “The Daily Show” on Wednesday night.
“The O’Reilly Factor’s” host had lively chat with Stewart during the segment of their conversation that aired. However it was their online extended interview that saw the hosts clash over taxation.
Stewart made it immediately clear that he would not be promoting O’Reilly’s new book “Killing Lincoln”. Instead he launched into how O’Reilly had threatened to quit his own show if taxation rose above 50 percent.
He asked “What threat of that is empty?” O’Reilly replied saying “All of it. " The Fox anchor added that the tax burden had become “onerous” on him.
When Stewart mocked him about the massive amount of money he earned O’Reilly came back saying “You're not making that much money”.
“The Daily Show” host asked “What is this whole business with the poor, poor rich in this country?" to which O’Reilly responded by asking “Are you ever going to wise up, ever?"
Their sparring went on for some minutes however the rest of the interview was aired online.
O’Reilly said he was a Democrat when it came to financial regulation. He said he wants cocaine dealers to pay their share of taxes. Stewart responded “So in your mind the debt crisis is caused by renegade cocaine dealers who are avoiding their social responsibilities?”
As O’Reilly continued in the same vein Stewart become irritated and said "Stop it, stop it," He pointed out that every income tax had gone down saying “Every other tax has gone up…You're not living in reality!"
Stewart continued by reading a list of statistics on the rising inequality in America. O’Reilly asked if this meant Stewart wanted to “shoot” the rich.
The increasingly annoyed Stewart said “I'm not saying we should shoot them. But we shouldn't act like returning to the tax rate of the 90s is class warfare on par with Lenin and Marx!"
O’Reilly said he wants a ten percent spending cut “across the board”.
Stewart, shocked, said “What kind of idiot-- across the board?...You're not even going to look?"
