Warner Bros have offered Ben Affleck the script of "Tales from the Gangster Squad" on the back of "The Town's" success (worldwide it has grossed almost $60 million).

The script tells the story of the LA Police Department's off-the-books squad of mercenary cops who go over the notorious gangster Micky Cohen in the 1940s.

New York Times magazine has reported that it's not clear whether Affleck will take the offer or not. He is also said to be considering directing "Homeland" a pilot show for Showtime from "24" producer Howard Gordon. "Homeland" is about a sleeper cell and ex-CIA operative, and an unknown "two-hander". The NY Times mag suggested that Matt Damon could also star.
