She spent a good chunk of her childhood in Galway, so it was fitting that Oscar winning actress Anjelica Huston returned there last week as the special guest of honor at the annual Galway Film Fleadh.

Huston received the fleadh’s inaugural Galway Hooker Award -- no, not that kind of hooker, but rather the one named after the famous Galway fishing boat.

"It is a pleasure to be back here in Galway and I am looking forward to spending time in this great place," she told reporters during a media event.

Anjelica’s famous father, the Oscar winning director John Huston, fell in love with Ireland and purchased St. Cleran’s House in Craughwell, County Galway in the 1950s. Anjelica spent many years there, and attended the Kylemore Abbey girls school.

"It is very fitting that Angelica is our guest of honor in our 21st year, as in our very first fleadh, in 1989, she featured with her father John in a documentary about the local Galway Blazers hunt,” said a spokesperson for the fleadh.

Huston gave a public interview on Monday night as part of the fleadh festivities, which also featured a retrospective of her many wonderful films, including James Joyce’s "The Dead," which was directed by her father.

No word if she bunked down at St. Cleran’s during her several day stay in Galway. The plush Georgian home was purchased by the entertainment entrepreneur Merv Griffin some years back and converted into a luxury boutique hotel.
