‘Star Trek’s’ Chris Pine to star in Jeff Nichols ‘Mud’
Star of 2009s "Star Trek" reboot and "Unstoppable", Chris Pine is set to team up with "Shotgun Stories" and "Take Shelter" director, Jeff Nichols, in his new drama "Mud".
Of late Pine has been acting on stage in "Farragut North" a political play which is being adapted into a movie which will star George Clooney, "The Ides of March" but he's set for something completely different.
"Mud" follows the story of two 14-year-old boys who come across a fugitive named Mud (Pine). The kids help him escape an island in the Mississippi. The movie is a coming of age story with the convict Mud teaching the boys as much as they teach him.
24 Frames, the LA Times blog, says that movie has drawn comparison to Mark Twain's "Huckleberry Finn". This story, however, takes place in the modern day.
Pine is currently only in talks about the role however the powers that be believe that he will take the role.
