For any would-be visitors to Ireland bemoaning the fact that the long-promised cheap flights from Boston to Cork and Shannon from Norwegian Air are still tied up in paperwork, there’s another hope on the horizon.

Icelandic budget airline WOW is launching cheap flights between New York and Dublin this coming November.

The route, which will run a fantastic five days each week, will start at $145 (€129) each way, and the only sacrifice is an hour and 20 minute layover in Reykjavik.

The flights, on an Airbus A321 aircraft, will commence when WOW’s winter schedule begins November 25.

The airline has been revving up its service between Ireland and North America, launching transatlantic routes between Boston, Washington D.C, Montréal and Toronto to Dublin via Iceland in 2015. It commenced direct service between Dublin and Reykjavik in June 2015.

“Our Dublin-Reykjavik route has been going extremely well and we are confident that this new route will further contribute to the success of WOW's Dublin route network,” Skúli Mogensen, founder and CEO of WOW, stated during the announcement regarding the new service.

However, as Pól Ó Conghaile at the Irish Independent noted, WOW’s baggage fees are among the priciest, with checked bags costing from $61.17 (€54.99) each way, and fees for carry-on luggage that exceeds 11 pounds.
