Acclaimed Irish rock band U2 have announced their new tour dates will coincide with the much anticipated opening of “Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark” Broadway musical.
Producers of the musical, which has been marred in controversy,recently rescheduled the opening night for the sixth time.
The official opening date is now set for June 14, 2001.
Last week saw Julie Taymor step down as the head creative director of the production, with Philip William McKinley taking her place.
Bono and the Edge are reportedly tweaking the score also. The U2 front man was on hand last week to work on new material with the cast but has since departed to meet U2 tour obligations in Chile.
Yesterday the band announced their North American tour dates, which were rescheduled from 2010 due to Bono’s emergency back surgery.
The band will play the following dates and venues from this coming May 21
