Tristan MacManus and Gladys Knight were the sixth couple to be voted off of ABC’s hit primetime show ‘Dancing with the Stars’ last night. Despite it being a Motown themed competition week, queen of soul Gladys Knight and her Irish pro partner Tristan MacManus were sent home.

Tristan and Gladys landed in the ‘in jeopardy’ pool on Tuesday’s results show, which was the follow-up to Monday night’s competition show. On Monday, the couple danced a rumba to ‘My Girl’ performed by The Temptations. The judges awarded Tristan and Gladys a modest 21 points for their efforts, and were eliminated early from the ‘dance marathon’ portion of the show.

On Tuesday, Gladys and Tristan landed in the bottom two alongside Disney actor Roshon Fegan and his pro partner Chelsie Hightower. The two couples had to duel it out, leaving the final decision to the judges. Both couples did a jive to Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now.’

Following the ‘duel,’ judge Carrie Ann Inaba voted to save Tristan and Gladys, but Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli opted to save Fegan and Hightower. Tristan and Gladys had met the end of their time on ‘Dancing with the Stars.’

"I am just so amazed at this journey," said Knight following her elimination.

"I will probably miss Gladys as much as I miss Ireland when I'm here," said McManus. "And I really, really miss Ireland."

MacManus followed up his Monday performance with Knight on his Entertainment Weekly blog. In it, he shared his excitement about getting to meet some of Motown’s greats, and how he was “in a fierce bad mood” after judge Bruno Tonioli voiced that he thought the couple’s dance should be have been steamier.

“I thought that was stupid. It wasn’t about being steamy and hot, and no one wants to see me steamy with Gladys. I don’t think it was appropriate. They said, well maybe you’re not the best dancer, and things needed to be more steamy. Being steamy doesn’t make anyone a better dance either, does it?”

Tristan went on to speculate that he assumed there would be “a strong possibility” that he and Gladys would be in the bottom two for the week. He added, however, that he and Gladys danced for the enjoyment of it, and that it wasn’t meant to be a stressful thing.

Tristan also took some time to respond to his dedicated readers’ questions in his blog. When asked how many times he’s climbed Bray Head, MacManus responded “Oh, all the time. Almost every day. My mom lives just down the road from it. The very end of me mom’s road is the back entrance to Bray Head. Usually climb it when I get home.”

And, of course, when one reader asked MacManus if he knew “how smokin’ hot” he is, Tristan laughed and responded with “Cheers.”

Are you surprised that Tristan and Gladys lasted this long? Do you think Tristan will be back for another season of ‘Dancing with the Stars’?
