The Irish Rep and New York Irish Center present “Dancing at Lughnasa” – VIDEO

New York Irish Center in Queens in collaboration with the Irish Repertory Theatre is set to host an evening of performance and cinema.

Eugene O'Neill Award Winning Actor, Ciaran O'Reilly, of the Irish Repertory Theatre will perform the opening monologue from the Brian Friel play, “Dancing at Lughnasa” to begin the evening. His performance will then be followed by an airing of the 1998 movie based on the beloved play starring Meryl Streep, Michael Gambon, and Kathy Burke.

Brian Friel's 1990 play is a portrait of five Irish sisters. The story takes place in 1936 on a Donegal farm and is told through the eyes of a boy. The play is a poignant and lyrical story of sisterhood, place, memory, love, and loyalty.

The performance will take place on Friday, 7th September and Friday, 21st September. Doors will open at 7.30pm and the show begins at 8.15pm.
