It's a holiday weekend and you don't want to travel. Where can you go for a wide variety of great entertainment, unlimited free carnival rides, kids entertainment, free parking, athletic exhibitions, theatre, dance and animal exhibitions for one low admission price. Throw in shopping, food and refreshments and you have Gaelic Park Irish Festival on Memorial Day Weekend May 24-27. It all takes place nearby at 6119 W. 147th Street, Oak Forest.

The variety and quality of entertainment is unparalleled. Famous Irish tenor, Ronan Tynan, fest favorites Gaelic Storm, Runa, The Killdares, The Fighting Jamesons and the Gothard Sisters present all types of Irish music. Country music stars Bernie Glim & Country Roads, bring their popular show, Sixteen Candles and M&R Rush are performing for rock music fans. All in all, over 40 acts perform on 5 stages - both indoors and out.

Over 700 Irish step dancers compete in the Chicago Feis on both Sunday and Monday. There is an Irish pony and dog exhibition as well as a petting zoo. Fast paced Gaelic football and hurling games will be played on the main pitch at Gaelic Park on Sunday.

You don't have to travel far or spend a lot of money to have a great time on Memorial Day Weekend. Irish Fest hours are Friday May 24th from 4pm to 11pm, Saturday May 25th, from 1pm to 11pm, Sunday May 26th, from 1pm to 11pm with Mass at 11.30am, and Monday May 27th, from 1pm to 8pm. The Chicago Feis, Irish step dancing competition takes place from 8am to 3pm on Sunday and Monday.

In addition, the Gaelic Park Players are proud to host  the Acting Irish International Theatre Festival at Gaelic Park starting on Tuesday May 21st through Saturday May 25th. This annual event which alternates between a Canadian, Irish and U.S. host city every year, celebrates the traditions of the Irish stage as Irish community theatre groups present the best in Irish drama and comedy both classic and contemporary. The festival admission price on both Friday and Saturday includes admission to the theatre festival.

Admission to Irish Fest is $15.00 for adults and $12.00 for adults 65 and older and kids 4-12 years of age. Admission for the first hour each day $10.00. Additional online specials are a four day pass for $27.00 if ordered by May 23rd, and daily passes for $10.00 adults, and $8.00 for seniors and kids 4-12 if ordered by May 19th. Parking is free.
