Sinead O'Connor has said people are afraid of her because she's bipolar. The 46-year-old singer was diagnosed with the disorder in 2005. In September 2011, she tweeted about her suicidal thoughts, sparking serious concern.

“It’s wounding and upsetting. It’s not talked about enough in the open," O'Connor told the Irish Mirror.

“Sometimes I feel like I’m in a prison and I find myself thinking I’d better not say anything about anything – it’s a bit depressing.”

In January 2012, she tweeted: “So having tried other ways 1st im asking does any1 know a psychiatrist in Dublin or Wicklow who could urgently see me today please? Im really unwell and in danger.”

She later revealed she tried to take her own life twice, but O’Connor now reveals she is doing better.

“I wouldn’t say I’m good at living in the present and not dwelling on things, but the older you get, the easier it is.”
