Last November direct Ridley Scott confirmed and he was planning on directing a sequel to the 1982 cult-classic science fiction movie “Blade Runner”. Now screenwriter Hampton Fancher has confirmed with the Hollywood Reporter that he’s going to come on board for the sequel.

The original Harrison Ford movie was based on the Philip K Dick novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” and the screenplay was written by Fancher. At yet plot details are nonexistent but the story is set to pick up years after the first film ended.

In November Scott said the sequel would not feature the Harrison Ford character of Rick Deckard or any of the original characters.

“Blade Runner”, though a disappointment initially at the box office, is now considered one of the most important movies in the genre.

Ford played the role of the “blade runner” an expert on artificial humans who is brought in to hunt down rebellious “replicants”.
