Despite Sean Penn's funny appearance as a former rock star who looks the spit of lead singer Robert Smith of The Cure, in his new film This Must Be the Place, the film is not a comedy.

Cheyenne is a former rock star. At 50 he still dresses 'Goth' and lives in Dublin, Ireland off his royalties. The death of his father, with whom he wasn't on speaking terms, brings him back to New York.

He discovers his father had an obsession to seek revenge for a humiliation he had suffered in Auschwitz at the hands of former SS Officer Aloise Muller. The bored, retired rock star seeks redemption and sets out on a journey across America to find his father's executioner an ex-Nazi war criminal who is a refugee in the U.S.

This Is The Place is listed in the Official Seletion 2011 competition of the Cannes Film Festival.

Directed by Paolo Sorrentino and starring Sean Penn and Francis McDormand well known for her leading role in Fargo (1996) directed by her husband Joel Coen of the Coen brothers.
