'Sex and The City 2' star Sarah Jessica Parker paid a stylish tribute to late fashion designer Alexander McQueen at the movies London premiere by teaming one of his creations with a poignant black armband in his memory.

The actress was friends with the fashion designer, and was devastated when he committed suicide at his London apartment in February.

She has been chosen to honor McQueen with a posthumous award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America next month, and Parker used the launch of her latest movie in the designer's hometown to pay her respects publicly.

The star donned a McQueen gown to grace the red carpet on Thursday night, and added a black armband - a traditional sign of mourning.

She said, 'There was no choice, I wanted to wear Alexander McQueen again. He made a dress for me two years ago and I feel it is an emotional tribute to him. I miss him tonight, but I'm thrilled to be wearing this dress. I feel like someone is looking down on me.'
