Irish actress Saoirse Ronan will use her Irish accent on film for the first time in Wes Anderson’s “The Grand Budapest Hotel.”

Ronan is the leading lady of Anderson’s upcoming film. New! magazine reported she said about her upcoming role, “I’m doing an Irish accent for my character. Wes just decided to let me, and I’m really chuffed (pleased). It’s actually the first time I’ve ever used an Irish accent in a film.”

The 18 year old who grew up in Co Carlow, Ireland came to fame for her role in “Atonement,” which earned her an Oscar nomination. She has done American and British accents in her past films. Ronan can be seen on the big screen in the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s “The Host” which opens on March 29.

Ronan was in Los Angeles on St. Patrick’s Day to promote “The Host.” She told Canada.com about being away from home on the holiday, “I haven’t been home the past couple of St. Patty’s Days. It’s not as big (in Ireland) as it is in America It’s mad here, but it’s great, like a national holiday.”

Anderson, who received an Oscar nomination for his last film “Moonrise Kingdom” started shooting “The Grand Budapest Hotel” in and around Berlin in mid January. “The Grand Budapest Hotel” will be released in 2014. The cast also includes Bill Murray, Jude Law, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Owen Wilson, Tilda Swinton and Willem Dafoe.
