Speculation has risen that Rosie O’Donnell and longtime partner Kelli Carpenter have called it quits.

The Irish-American comedian and former talk show host has hinted that the two were having major problems in the past, and has now confirmed their troubles in an interview with USA Today.

O’Donnell broke down in tears while discussing her relationship with Carpenter, whom she shares four children with.

When asked if they’ve broken up, she cryptically answered: “We're a family. We will remain a family forever. And we are working on our issues.”

O’Donnell and Carpenter married in 2004 at a ceremony in San Francisco. The pair has three adopted children, Parker, 14, Chelsea, 12, and Blake, 9, and a biological child, Vivienne, 6, whom Carpenter carried.

"They're adorable and wonderful and they are by far a priority," a tearful O'Donnell said. "Kelli and I love each other very much and we are working on our issues. Those are the only words I am ever going to say. Ever. And that is something that has been agreed upon by all parties.

"We will both continue to parent them and we're friendly and everything's all right."

Reports say that Carpenter has moved out of the couple’s home and into a Manhattan apartment.

O’Donnell has contributed to the rumor mill by telling fans on her blog that marriage is “very very very hard.”
