Robert Downey Jr has come in at number two on the Forbes' 'Most Powerful Actors' list. The list, compiled based on the star’s earnings in the past 12 months, was revealed just a week after “Iron Man” made a deal to star in HTC’s (a Taiwanese manufacturer of smartphones and tablets) adverts.

The Irish American star came in second to Hugh Jackman who banked big money in the past 12 months due to his role as Jean Valjean in “Les Miserables”. Downey Jr made the cut for his role as Tony Stark in “Iron Man 3” and “The Avengers”. Also in the top ten were Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg, Seth MacFarlane and Ben Affleck.

Having signed on for further movies as Tony Stark, including two Avengers flicks and a possible “Iron Man 4” Downey Jr is set to continue his reign as the uber cool and influential comic book movie star.

Now he’s signed on to HTC to appear in their adverts. Bloomberg reports that Downey Jr will appear on billboard ads, print and of course, television. Earlier this year HTC recorded a record low profit and they believe that having the charming Downey Jr on board could earn them a profit of $12 million during his two year contract.
