'This Is 40' director/writer Judd Apatow and star Paul Rudd were in Dublin last week to appear on The Late Late Show to promote the film’s European release.

Rudd has been to Dublin on a few occasions – the Guinness Storehouse is a favorite place – and he gushed to guest host Pat Kenny about his Irish affinity.

“I love Ireland. It might be my favorite place in the world,” Rudd said.

Apatow heaped praise on 40 co-star Chris O’Dowd, the Roscommon native who’s been a favorite of his for some time.  O’Dowd has a recurring role in the Apatow produced HBO hit Girls, and was also cast a couple of years ago in the film Bridesmaids.

“We thought he was hilarious in Bridesmaids. He’s one of those go-to guys who’s so funny and talented,” Apatow told Kenny.

“I think he’s brilliant,” added Rudd, who’s getting ready to film the sequel to the Will Ferrell classic Anchorman.
