Oprah Winfrey is signing up a list of major celebrities, including Gabriel Byrne, to develop documentaries for her new U.S. network, Own.
Along with Gabriel Byrne, Julia Roberts, Forest Whitaker, Goldie Hawn and Mariel Hemingway are all going to help the media mogul to produce their own documentaries putting their own slant on various topics.
Gabriel Byrne’s film, “Tent City” will love at the homeless situation in Nashville Tennessee.
Julia Roberts will be working on a documentary called “Extraordinary Moms”. The film will look at the mothers and their power as they fight to make their child’s lives and the world they live in better.
Forest Whitaker will produce and narrate a documentary called “One Last Shot”. This film will take a look inside Louisiana’s Angola prison.
Goldie Hawn is signed up to host and narrate “Searching for Happiness”. Her documentary will focus on positive psychology and Mariel Hemingway will take a look at the legacy of suicide in her own family, in a film called “Seven Suicides”.
“All of these documentaries fundamentally explore human interaction, relationships and emotions. We're excited to provide viewers with new perspectives and new ways of looking at core themes that shape and affect their lives,” said an Own spokesperson.
