Irish-American sex symbol, Olivia Wilde, has been named PETA’s Sexiest Vegetarian for 2010. She is the daughter of Irish-born journalist Andrew Cockburn.

Along with Wilde, Bob Harper, the U.S TV coach on “The Biggest Loser” was honored with an award. Wilde’s co-star on “House” and former New York Club Kid, Lisa Edelstein, was also a runner-up.

Wilde who plays 'Thirteen' in the medical drama “House” is a vegan which means that she does not use any animal products, including milk, cheese and even honey.

Wilde wrote on her website “I am really honored, and very inspired to continue living the vegan lifestyle that has been so good to my body, my animal friends, and the world we live in.”

She said: “Beyond my desire to boycott the torture factories, I am also way happier when I eat a plant based diet, and I feel about a thousand times more energetic."

On her website she also spoke about her “your dollar is your vote” theory. She is against supporting those who farm animals in any form.

“Now, some of you might be saying "but not all animal products come from the evil meat and dairy industries! What about the small farmers who massage their cattle to sleep every night and milk their goats with warm hands while singing lullabies??? My response to that is that I WISH the food available to us in 99% of markets in this country came from sweet, small family farms. Sadly, it is incredibly difficult to ensure that you are not perpetuating a cycle of cruelty that is only getting worse as demand rises and profits grow."

PETA, who announced the winners of the poll, seem extremely happy with the outcome. They said “Wilde proves that being vegan helps one shine from the inside out. She has saved lives on Fox's hit show "House" and has saved the lives of animals off-screen by choosing a vegan diet.”
