As if their fame wasn’t already exploding stateside enough, the One Direction lads have just secured a spot on a new television show on the children’s programming network Nickelodeon.

"The rumours are true, our live-action slate does include a development project for One Direction. Welcome to the family!" the network tweeted. One of the  band members Niall Horan is from iIeland.

One Direction are no strangers to Nickelodeon. The group will be performing at this year's Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards and is set to appear in an episode of ‘iCarly.’

"It's going to be scream-worthy," Paula Kaplan, an executive producer of the Kids' Choice Awards, said according to Pop Crush. "We have seen their popularity explode, and we are excited to introduce them to our audience."

While some are understandably excited about the lads’ newest venture, die-hard fans have their own opinions. After the news dropped via Twitter that the group had landed a new show, the hashtag #1DPleaseDontGoToNick" started to pop up and trend from ‘Directioners.’ Many are worried that the group going to Nickelodeon will attract too young of a fan base, and that they would rather see the boys stick to music.

No word yet on what type of show Nickelodeon has in store for the five heartthrobs.

One Direction is made up of Niall Horan, 18, Zayn Malik, 19, Liam Payne, 18, Harry Styles, 18, and Louis Tomlinson, 20. The group was formed during the 2010 season of the UK version of ‘The X Factor.’ After they ultimately came in third place, Simon Cowell signed the group to his label Syco.
