Neeson, Bono to team up for ‘The Virgin of Las Vegas’

Bono and Liam Neeson team up

To the best of our knowledge Bono and Liam Neeson have never worked on a project together, so it’s high time the two Irish icons joined forces to create something special.

And that’s exactly what they plan to do with the news that Neeson will star in a movie called “The Virgin of Las Vegas,” to be produced by Bono, this according to Variety magazine.

The film will see Neeson portray an Irish showband singer with a dead end career who heads to Las Vegas to turn things around.

According to an insider, Neeson’s character will also be an alcoholic, but he’ll "find his life turned on its head following the arrival of a mysterious stranger.” The screenplay was written by Barry Devlin, who’s best known in Ireland as a member of the oldie but goodie band the Horslips.

Bono is putting up the estimated $14 million film budget with Irish company Parallel Pictures, which is also down to produce “At Swim-Two-Birds,” an $11 million film that will mark the directorial debut of Brendan Gleeson.

That film is an adaptation of Flann O’Brien’s novel of the same name, which Variety says is a “coming-of-age tale about a 19-year-old student who sees the fictional characters in the play he's writing intertwining with the people in his life.”

Gleeson, who also wrote the adapted screenplay, called on his A-list friends to join the cast, including Colin Farrell, Cillian Murphy and Gabriel Byrne.
