Not only is Derry native Nadine Coyle “the voice” of British pop group Girls Aloud – she’s a clever entrepreneur.
The Irish singer, 23, continues to build upon her property and business empire in the U.S., which is worth an estimated €3m (over $4m). That sum doesn’t include her earnings as a member of Girls Aloud for the past seven years.
Most recently, Coyle opened her third bar in the U.S. on St. Patrick’s Day, the Irish pub Nadine’s Irish Mist in Orange County, California. The pub, which is run by her parents Niall and Lilian, serves authentic Irish food and the standard Irish drinks like Guinness and Jameson.
The singer/businesswoman chose California for her next business venture not only because her family has relocated there, but she fell in love with the area while spending time there with ex-boyfriend and “Desperate Housewives” star Jesse Metcalfe and current boyfriend NFL player Jason Bell.
“I've loved Los Angeles since I first went there a couple of years ago,” said Coyle. “I just fell completely in love with the place.
“I love the weather, the lifestyle, the palm trees, the big wide roads. At the moment, it's just a matter of me going over when we're not working.”
Nadine’s Irish Mist is the third establishment owned by Coyle; she also owns an Irish bar called O’Malley’s and a Mexican restaurant in Florida.
Next month when their tour ends and the ladies of Girls Aloud take a three-month, Coyle won’t waste any time expanding her empire.
She hinted that she will spend her time trying a new solo career after signing a deal with EMI.
The singer told “Late Late Show” host Pat Kenny: “I'm writing songs and it's slightly different styles from Girls Aloud, so I'm gonna do that, writing stuff after Girls Aloud.”
She remained coy, however, when asked if she’s going to release a solo album in the near future. “I have loads of material of stuff to do, but it's just about the timing and about getting it right and getting the right songs to put out,” she said.

Meanwhile, she’ll continue to manage the several rental properties she owns in Ireland, London and L.A.
“I like buying houses and decorating them and selling them off," Coyle has said. "With the profit I make I buy bars. The ultimate business plan is to open a chain of Irish bars. Americans are screaming out for them.”
The Irish star admits that she’s known to drop a lot of cash in her business pursuits.
“A few times in recent years, just through buying so much stuff as investments and dropping big sums here and there, I have left myself without enough money to buy a packet of chewing gum,” she said.
“I'm a bit dangerous with money. If I have it, I'll spend it.”
