Michael Fassbender, who missed out on an Oscar nod for his full-frontal, star turn in Shame, was busy on the British and Irish awards circuit last weekend.

Fassbender, raised in Co. Kerry, brought his folks along to the BAFTA awards in London on Sunday, where he lost out on an acting honor to one of the leads in The Artist . . . but Miss Piggy was very nice to him on the red carpet so that’s a consolation!

The Muppet starlet hung with the celebs prior to the show, and told Fassbender she heard he was quite naughty in Shame.  (True enough, as he plays a compulsive sex addict.)

When he asked if she’d seen the film yet, Miss Piggy told Fassbender that her green suitor, Kermit, would be the ideal mate to see it with “because it could get things kind of steamy.”  Who knew MP had such an X rated mind!

Fassbender brought his parents to the BAFTAs, and said that his mother finally saw Shame a couple of weeks ago. “I wasn’t there when she was watching it,” he not surprisingly admitted.

Mrs. Fassbender, a native of Larne, Co. Antrim, will accompany her 34-year-old son to the Oscars later this month, though he’s not in contention for a statue.

Fassbender had better awards luck on Saturday in Dublin at the Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) award ceremony. He was named Best Irish Actor over Brendan Gleeson, Ciaran Hinds and Martin Sheen, while Saoirse Ronan took the Best Irish Actress honor for her role in Hanna.

Chris O’Dowd scooped up a Best Supporting Actor nod for his role in Bridesmaids, and he was also at the IFTA party with his new fiancée Dawn Porter.  But otherwise, it seems, most of the A-listers opted for a Dublin fly-over to head right to Sunday BAFTAs, which attracted the likes of Meryl Streep, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, etc.
