READ MORE- Mary Byrne's 'X Factor' dream ends

Mary Byrne, the Dublin star of this year's “X Factor” has signed a record deal with Sony Records according to her mentor Louis Walsh.

Mayo man Walsh said that the Dubliner could count on support from himself and Simon Cowell.

“I’ll help her with picking the songs and producers. She won’t be going back to Tesco,” Walsh said.

“She is doing the “X Factor” tour and her own tour with promoter MCD. She is going to get a whole lot of work,” he said, “She could potentially make a million,” he added.

“Simon knows she could sell a lot of records; after her first performance on the live shows he told me he thought she stood a strong chance of winning,” Walsh said.

Walsh compared Mary to Susan Boyle, who despite not winning last year's “Britains Got Talent” has become a worldwide star and has sold millions of albums.

“Susan Boyle didn’t win and look how many albums she’s sold. Simon will definitely look after her and I see a great future there for Mary,” he said.

Music manager Walsh admitted that Mary was looking forward to getting home: "Her health is not great. Living in that house is stressful, it’s like a goldfish bowl,” he said.

The news of her record deal comes after Dublin City Council announced they plan to hold a civic reception in the nations capital for the Ballyfermot woman.

She will also appear on the The Late Late Show on RTÉ this Friday.
