West Wing star Martin Sheen will return to Ireland to take part in the Galway Film Fleadh next month, according to the Herald.

The 70-year-old actor is set to host a public interview at the Town Hall Theatre, and will debut his new film, 'Stella Days,' about a local cinema in an Irish town.

Sheen will play the role of a parish priest who sets up a local movie theatre in the town.  However, he faces tough opposition from the locals, who question his faith and believe the funds could be better spent.

Ireland rugby captain Brian O'Driscoll's wife Amy Huberman, Stephen Rea and Marcella Plunkett also star in the film.

The movie was filmed in the small village of Fethard, in Tipperary, late last year.

"I love this town, I love Ireland. I love the culture, the people, so I'm happy as Larry," said Sheen.

Sheen previously spent a semester in Galway as an international student at the National University of Ireland, where he took courses in English literature, philosophy and oceanography.

The 23rd Galway Film Fleadh opens on Tuesday, July 5, with the Irish premiere of 'Parked.'

The full program for the festival will be launched in the Radisson Hotel on June 21.
